I'm surprised that I was out of the loop about this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for so long. The VE-based Caprice gets the VF Commodore Evoke's interior (similar to the upcoming SS, including Mylink) with a column shifter, the requisite equipment panel and wider front seats with updated pelvic airbags and seat belts.
Some other improvements include a surveillance mode, electric power steering, switchblade key fob with remote start, trunk release buttons on both front doors, and handling improvements via larger front struts and front stabilizer bar. There's no more Detective trim, though.
For reference, here are the 2011 MY's Police- and Detective-spec interiors.
The 2014 SS' interior:
I don't know about the standard equipment panel now that the Detective trim's no longer offered, but the overall car seems closer to an affordable SS when used examples turn up.

I really like the column shifter.

Seems alright, my cop buddy has been in it though and said the charger is the superior car of the fleet (ford interceptor included).
Also, IDK why but the chevy interiors really don't impress me much. They seem ugly.
